As in any profession, some practitioners are better than others. In addition to training and accreditation, try to find out how well the surgeon has performed in the past. You can find out by doing some research on the internet e.g. Google the ‘name of the specialist’ and add the word ‘forum’ or ‘review’; and also to refer to your trusted friends who have done it and not just relying on the sales personnel or any marketing agent working for the plastic surgeons. 

Bear in mind that the plastic surgeon's centre high ranking on page 1 and visible advertisements on Google may not be truly reflective of the surgeon's skills, experience and also how 'safe' is the surgeon for the procedure that you have chosen. If you are confused and not sure whether you should proceed, then don't. If its a must that you must go for it, then choose wisely.

Based on the Malaysian National Specialist Register, there are many plastic surgeons practicing in Kuala Lumpur, both in the government and private sectors. Some of them do practice in multiple places i.e. they have their own clinics as well as sessional clinics in private hospitals. You can consult the plastic surgeon of your choice by calling and to make an appointment for consultation.

It’s important that you select a plastic surgeon that is attached to a licensed hospital for a major procedure. The hospital management would have done the necessary ‘checking’ on the training and surgical experience of that plastic surgeon. However, most minor procedures are done on a 'day care' basis and could be performed in a clinic. However, it’s important that you know the difference between a minor and a major procedure. Body procedures such as breast augmentation and abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) procedures require a longer surgical time and are considered a major procedure. Great care must be taken to perform them safely and effectively. We wouldn't recommend that you go to a beauty spa that offers cosmetic surgery procedures as well.
